Our blog this month is to fill you in one great reason to come visit our country-side villa this fall in San Miguel de Allende to experience one of the finest jazz festivals in the world, right in our home town in Guanajuato, Mexico.
This November 16 – 20, some of the top jazz musicians on the planet will head to San Miguel to perform in the 22nd Annual International Jazz and Blues Festival – which according to the festival’s website is … “considered one of the most important festivals of its kind in Mexico and one of the largest in Latin America for its long career.”
More details from the festival site notes that it will be featuring international artists such as Alfred Thompson, an extraordinary Grammy Award winning musician, who has belonged to important groups such as “Irakere” led by pianist Chucho Valdes, the Orchestra “Ibrahim Ferrer” by Buenavista Social Club.
The Festival’s opening group is a Canadian Jazz Trio of pianist Steven Koven, one of the strongest groups in the current scene of this country, accompanied by Anthony Michelli on bass and Rob Clutton on drums.
Back by popular demand, the acclaimed young guitarist and blues singer from New York, “King Solomon Hicks“.
